Start of season reminders

Our 2023 season has officially started this week! Squirt, PeeWee and Junior Bantam games kicked off this week, and T-Ball and 5 Pitch begin next week! Here are some start-of-season reminders for all players and families.

Team assignments

All players should have received a message from their coach for their team assignments. Please ensure you check your junk mail / spam folder in case your coach’s emails wound up there.  If you still have not heard from your coach, please contact the Convenor for your division.

Required equipment

All players are responsible for providing their own batting helmet and baseball glove. Closed-toed shoes are required (cleats optional). Helmets and gloves can be purchased online or at local stores such as Sport Chek or Canadian Tire.

Players are required to wear their team shirt to every game. Team shirts have been ordered and will be ready in the next few weeks. Once we have them your coach will hand them out at your next game.

Game schedules

All game schedules have been posted. Under the “Divisions” menu you can navigate to your team’s page and find a live calendar link, to sync with your device. This live link will continue to be updated through the season in case of any changes, rainouts, etc.

Game start times

Games begin at 6:30pm or 8:30pm (Junior Bantam). All players are expected to be at the diamond 30 minutes BEFORE game time for warm-up/practice.

If you will not be able to make it to a game, PLEASE notify your coach as far in advance as possible! If you know your summer vacation plans already, let your coach know! This helps your coaches find alternate players if needed.

Photo day schedules

Photo day schedules are available on the website! Photo days this year are Wednesday June 21 and Thursday June 22. Please pay careful attention to the timeslot for your team! Please arrive early for your timeslot, as photos will go ahead even if some players are missing. All players must wear their team shirts for photos.

Rainouts

If heavy rains or other inclement weather take place and render the diamonds not usable, a notification will be sent out via email and posted on the Jordan Lions website as soon as possible. Localized thunder and lightning will automatically cancel a game regardless of diamond condition. Light intermittent rain will not justify cancellation. If you have NOT heard from Jordan Softball, please show up to the diamond ready to play!

Scorekeepers and other helpers

Your coaches are parent volunteers who have committed their time to help. Please make sure you thank them! They will also need your help! Coaches may need help with scorekeeping, base coaching, coverage for vacation, etc. Please help out when your coach asks - or better yet don’t wait for them to ask!

Respectful conduct expectations

Please be courteous and respectful to all players, coaches, parents, and umpires. Many of our umpires are young and are players in some of our older leagues. Umpiring is a great learning experience for these players and we want to support them as much as possible. All Umpire decisions are final. Harassment or disrespectful conduct toward any umpire will not be tolerated.

Food booth

The food booth will not be operating this year. Teams can choose to organize their own snacks if desired.
